To bring you up to speed, the NFIP program was set to expire on May 31st. There was an extension signed to continue the program until June 14th. This short extension was mainly passed due to Congress taking a recess and a few disagreements about the program between the parties. Congress managed to come to a quick agreement as soon as they all returned to the office; on June 6th they reauthorized the NFIP program until September 30, 2019. The industry has been hopeful for a long-term reauthorization for many years now. September doesn’t allow for much time, but we are all eager to see if we can finally have a long-term reauthorization plan this go around.
